The Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto welcomes visitors throughout the year. Perched above Flatrock Harbour, the site offers a unique combination of history, heritage, craftsmanship, and coastal scenery.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto is located in the Town of Flatrock, Newfoundland and Labrador, overlooking Flatrock Harbour and the Atlantic coastline. The site is easily accessible by road and is just a short drive from downtown St. John’s.

Ample parking is available in the church parking lot and at the lookout across the street. This is also where people park to access the East Coast Trail which is just a couple minutes walk from the Grotto site.
Aside from the beautiful Grotto itself, with its historic stonework and panoramic harbour views, Flatrock and the surrounding coastline are renowned for their natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy dramatic ocean vistas, rugged cliffs, and some of the most picturesque scenery found anywhere in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The area is also well known for seasonal whale watching and iceberg viewing. Depending on the time of year, visitors may be fortunate enough to witness both from the shoreline overlooking Flatrock Harbour.
Just minutes from the Grotto, outdoor enthusiasts can access sections of the world-famous East Coast Trail, offering spectacular hiking opportunities along the Atlantic coastline. Combined with the area’s rich history, coastal landscapes, and welcoming community, a visit to the Grotto can easily become part of a memorable day exploring the region.
